It has only been two days since writing about the upcoming visit from 2025 Southlake (Tex.) Carroll four-star tight end Jack VanDorselaer, but after speaking with him yesterday at SMU’s Mega Camp, I have some tidbits of information to add.
VanDoreselaer has announced he will take a multi-day visit to USC that will start on June 14.
In talking to him, I was able to get a better sense of what he is looking for on his visit, which will be his first to USC.
A big connection to the West Coast
While it is his first visit to USC, it will not be his first to Los Angeles. VanDoreselaer told me yesterday he is excited about the visit because his mother is from the area. He said she lived in both north and south California when growing up, including Los Angeles.
He has been to the state before with family, but has not been back in several years. He says this is where most of his excitement comes into play.
He is very eager to learn the area and see all what it offered from USC and the Los Angeles area.
Because there is a family connection in play, it does make USC look a bit more favorable in the long run.
VanDorselaer is ranked as the No. 287 overall prospect and No. 17 tight end in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 50 prospect in Texas.
Hanson building early
VanDoreselaer also told me during our conversation that his relationship with tight ends coach Zach Hanson has started off strong.
While on the visit, the two will be able to connect and really grow their relationship to the next level.
On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine
The 6-foot-4, 225 pound playmaker currently holds 24 offers. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Baylor as a slight favorite to land a commitment from VanDorselaer at 31.3%. Texas comes in at second place at 27.4%.
RPM was released to the public in December 2021. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.
It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
On3 NIL Valuation for VanDoreselaer
VanDorselaer currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $150K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
