2025 RB Tiger Riden recaps recruitment, visit plans
Desoto (Texas) running back Deondrae “Tiger” Riden is still riding the recruiting wave. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound sophomore tailback has seen his stock soar since helping the Eagles to the Texas Class 6A-DII state championship last winter.
In an offense stacked with D1 talent that includes Texas early enrollee Johntay Cook and UT signee Tre Wisner, Riden led Desoto with 1,339 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns, including averaging 103 yards per game and had six games of 100+ yards.
He parlayed that into multiple offers including Texas, Oregon, USC, Miami, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Nebraska. For the Longhorns, UT running back coach Tashard Choice sees a big-bodied back for the Texas offense.
“I can’t wait to get down there by Coach Choice,” said Riden. “ He like my running style and he’s a cool coach that will hold you accountable. Looking forward to talking to him more.”
He’s hitting USC on April 15th, then Tennessee and Texas after that. It’s his second trip to Southern Cal.
“I went last year and was impressed,” said Riden. “USC got to get ready for the Big Ten power also though. I should be down there (USC) in the Spring. Really soon, really soon. I’ve been talking to Coach Mac (Kiel McDonald) and Coach (Lincoln) Riley about me getting down there in the spring time.”
Riden is keeping everything in perspective as he winds down his sophomore season. He won’t be participating in the Texas Relays in Austin on Friday and Saturday due to shin splints, he tells Inside Texas.
“Recruiting is going crazy. I’m just still humble and ready for the season,” Riden said. “Texas A&M, Texas, USC, Oregon, Michigan and many others. I’ve been to A&M, planning to USC and trying to get to Texas as well. Trying to get down to Oregon and Michigan.”
SMU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine over Texas A&M for Riden.
