2025 Ohio LB Grant Beerman recaps Purdue visit

Grant Beerman enjoyed his visit to Purdue for the Syracuse game so much so that the 2025 Ohio linebacker wants to come back. Soon.

“Out of all of the game day visits, I think I definitely enjoyed this one,” said Beerman, who plays at Lakota West High in West Chester, Ohio. “All of the other ones have been great. But this one was definitely special. The atmosphere was great. And then all the pregame and even after game I was able to talk to the coaches.

“So, it was a great experience, overall. And I think because of this, I definitely want to get back now.”

Beerman already has taken in a game at Notre Dame; two weeks ago, he was at Pitt vs. Cincinnati. This week, he has the Cincinnati-Oklahoma game on the schedule with Duke vs. N.C. State on tap, too.

The 6-4, 2-5-pound Beerman says he has 12 offers, including one from Purdue which he earned at a camp in West Lafayette this summer. He also boasts offers from the likes of Cincinnati, Pitt, Duke, Marshall and Boston College, among other schools. He’s in no hurry to make a decision, likely doing so next offseason.

“I would say what separates me from all the other linebackers is probably my length,” said Beerman, who runs the 400 in track. “I can use that to my advantage. And I think I’m also faster than a lot linebackers. I have a pretty good frame. I’m twitchy.”

Beerman played outside linebacker last year. He’s playing WILL in 2023 as a junior. How would Beerman be used in Purdue’s defense?

“They said I could play an inside linebacker role like (O.C.) Brothers,” said Beerman, who played some tight end in 2022 but is focused on defense this season. “I also could play outside linebacker. A lot will depend on how much weight I can add.”
