2025 NFL Draft: Indianapolis Colts select Alabama DL Tim Smith

Alabama senior defensive lineman Tim Smith was selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the No. 190 overall pick (Round 6) in the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon. Smith was the seventh Crimson Tide player off the board, and fourth on Day 3, of this year’s draft.
Smith played five years in Tuscaloosa and was a full-time starter this past season, starting in all 13 of Alabama’s games. He posted a career-high in tackles with 35 and tied a career-high in sacks with two on the season. Crimson Tide coaches selected him as a player of the week during the win over South Carolina, where he had four tackles and one of his two sacks.
Over his 5-year career, Smith appeared in 65 games, starting in at least half of the team’s games each year for the final three years of his career. He was a member of three SEC championship teams during his Alabama career (2020, 2021, 2023) and the program’s most recent national championship in 2020.
Coming out of Sebastian River High School in Gifford, Florida, Smith was one of the top defensive line prospects in the 2020 class. He was a 4-star prospect ranked No. 136 overall, coming in as the No. 11 defensive tackle and No. 21 player in the state of Florida. He chose Alabama over Florida, Clemson and others.
