2025 NFL Draft: ESPN’s Matt Miller lists Jaxson Dart becoming Top 10 pick as ‘hot’ rumor

2025 NFL Draft: ESPN’s Matt Miller lists Jaxson Dart becoming Top 10 pick as ‘hot’ rumor

As the 2025 NFL Draft quickly approaches, Jaxson Dart remains one of the biggest risers. ESPN’s Field Yates projected the former Ole Miss quarterback to go No. 21 overall in his two-round mock draft Wednesday – and he might not be done moving up the board.

Matt Miller said the “hot” rumor around the draft is Dart potentially moving into the Top 10, he told Kay Adams. His stock has been steadily rising since the Senior Bowl, and a strong performance at the NFL Scouting Combine got the chatter to grow even more.

With three weeks to go until Draft Day, Miller admitted the rumor mill is fairly quiet. However, he said he’s going to keep looking into whether Dart could become a Top-10 selection.

“I think Jaxson Dart going in the Top 10 is the hot one,” Miller said on Up and Adams. “And you’re right, it’s been quiet. As someone who loves draft rumors, it’s been quiet, and I think it’s because we don’t have the big quarterbacks this year. But Jaxson Dart going in the Top 10 – and that might be the Saints at nine, it might be a team trading up – that’s the one I’m trying to get the most intel on right now because the buzz on him as just been building.

“And I’ll be the first to admit, there has been buzz on players in the past that fizzled out by the time we got to draft weekend. Mac Jones going No. 3 was the big buzz not that long ago, and he didn’t go until 15. With Jaxson Dart, we’ll see, but it’s definitely trending in the direction that he’s going to go much earlier than we all thought when the season ended.”

Why there are questions about Jaxson Dart in the NFL

During his senior season at Ole Miss this past season, Dart emerged as one of the top passers in the country. He ranked third in the nation with 4,279 passing yards to go with 29 touchdowns and six interceptions. His 10.8 pass yards per attempt led the nation.

The system Dart played in at Ole Miss, though, drew some scrutiny. Lane Kiffin’s scheme relies heavily on run-pass-option plays, and questions rose about how Dart’s skillset would translate to a pro-style offense. But his ability to make plays with his legs stands out to analysts such as Mel Kiper Jr.

“Jaxson Dart – his legs are phenomenal,” Kiper said. “I mean, he can beat you athletically with his speed. He can kill a defense in that area on third down and, in situations where you’re in man, he can go for a lot of yards.

“And the arm strength is good. There’s nothing wrong with his arm. Some of the throws he makes against his body are phenomenal. None of these other quarterbacks – Shedeur, Cam Ward – have made some of those dramatic, awe-inspiring throws that Jaxson Dart did during the course of this past season and, really, during his career at Ole Miss once he left USC.”
