2025 Masters: Jordan Spieth tags spectator in crotch with putter
Jordan Spieth left a spectator at Augusta National Golf Club in some discomfort during his final round of the 2025 Masters on Sunday. Spieth was greeted by a crowd of spectators while walking to the tee box when he accidentally hit a male fan with his putter.
Spieth gave a fist bump to the fan and immediately after, his putter flew forward and caught him in his crotch. The fan hunched over as Spieth walked past with a smirk on his face. Maybe it wasn’t an accident after all…
Spieth appears to be in a jovial mood Sunday, even as his quest to win a second Green Jacket is unattainable. The 31-year-old made the cut after carding back-to-back 73s on Thursday and Friday. He shot a bogey-free, three-under 69 on Saturday to get to -1 for the tournament headed into Sunday. Spieth hadn’t kept a clean card at Augusta National since the second round of the 2016 Masters.

At the very least, Spieth looks comfortable with his overall game as golf continues through major season. His putter has especially been hot.
“I made a few 8-footers for par,” Spieth said, via Brentley Romine of NBC Sports. “You’re just going to have that at some point here, even in a really flawless round. Like on 4, I landed it just over the bunker and it shot just over the green, and if it stays on, it’s an easy two-putt, but just over, you’re like, I can’t chip it within 8 feet, and that kind of stuff will happen here on just the severity. Now, I’m right of the pin. If you’re left of the pin, you’re all good. If you’re just a little off on the direction, then you’ve got to make that 6-, 7-, 8-footer for par, and I’ve been putting those really well as of late, so I felt very comfortable if you had to give myself 6 feet for par.
“I was like, okay, that frees me up a little on shot selection on chips and maybe using putter from off the green, that kind of stuff.”
Spieth is even through seven holes Sunday, sitting T23 on the leaderboard.
