2025 LB Jason King Talks Kentucky Offer, ‘Can’t Wait’ to Visit This Summer
Jason King, a class of 2025 linebacker out of Missouri, is looking to visit Kentucky this summer after picking up an offer from the Cats.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound middle linebacker from DeSmet (Saint Louis, MO) told KSR+ that he had a “great” conversation with the coaches at Kentucky and they expressed “a lot of interest.”
“I was surprised and happy when Kentucky first offered me because it was my first Power 5 offer,” King said. “I was happy that a program that’s as big as Kentucky thought I was good enough to play for them.”
King, the younger brother of Northern Illinois sophomore linebacker Ryan King, had the chance to see Kentucky play when UK defeated NIU 31-23 on September 24, 2022.
“I think I would fit into their system very well because of my versatility,” King said. “Their linebackers move around a lot and are asked to do a lot of things. I think I would excel in a system like that.”
King also said he is most impressed by the fans and culture at Kentucky, noting that he is working to set a date to visit in the summer.
“On the visit, I expect to meet the coaching staff and see what kind of city Lexington is,” he said.
His Wider Recruitment
Jason King is currently in contact the most with four schools: Iowa State, Ohio State, Kansas, and Missouri. He has already taken visits to Ohio State and Iowa State, and plans to visit Kansas in the summer.
Throughout this process, King is leaning on the help of his brother to navigate a busy recruitment.
“My brother has been helping me,” King said. “He’s already been through this process, so it hasn’t been too stressful.”
As far as the advice from his brother, King is focused on keeping things in perspective.
“He told me that there will be ups and downs throughout the whole process, so I should keep a level head during the whole thing,” he said. “He also told me to heavily value the relationship with the coaching staff because you will see them every day.”
There are two things that King is looking for most in a program when deciding where to commit.
“A good relationship with the coaching staff and a good system fit,” he said.
Jason King’s Game
According to On3, Jason King has a NIL valuation of $12k, which ranks No. 4440 in high school football.
King considers his “versatility, explosiveness, speed, and instincts” to be his greatest strengths on the field.
Moving forward, King wants to increase his size and improve at shedding blocks.
Before closing out, King left Big Blue Nation with a message:
“Kentucky is a great program and I will be ready to work if I commit,” he said.
