2025 IOL Blake Cherry is ‘focusing on a few schools’ as he gets going with official visits

2025 IOL Blake Cherry is ‘focusing on a few schools’ as he gets going with official visits

Arkansas, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas A&M are some of the schools firmly in the mix for Owasso (Okla.) three-star interior offensive lineman Blake Cherry. He feels that Arkansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State are going “above and beyond” in recruiting him.

Cherry also hears from Oklahoma via text every day and Texas A&M occasionally. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound recruit is hoping to commit in the middle of the summer, but is willing to wait until the last few weeks of the summer to announce his decision if necessary.

“I’m really looking for a team that’s going to invest in me being a better person,” Cherry told On3. “You want all the guys to be good guys at your school. I want to be able to help the team and them help me become a better man… Academics is a big thing for me too. I want to get a good education because I want to go into business or maybe engineering.”

Cherry is hoping to take between four and five official visits in the coming weeks. The No. 15 player in Oklahoma was in Stillwater this weekend and he will be already has three of them scheduled to Arkansas on June 14 and Kansas State on June 21.

“I’m focusing on a few schools, but I’m also keeping my mind open,” said Cherry, On3’s No. 54 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class. “We have spring ball coming up, so I know there are going to be a lot of coaches here.”

Oklahoma State and Oklahoma want to keep Cherry at home

Cherry has already visited Oklahoma State around four times and Oklahoma six times. The Cowboys being an in-state school is a “little” benefit in the Big 12 program’s recruitment of him.

Multiple Oklahoma State coaches are already close with Cherry. They include offensive line coach Charlie Dickey.

“I enjoyed my time in Stillwater and it was great to see how the coaches are and how the players are for a few days,” Cherry said. “I learned a lot on how the team operates and I look forward to continuing building my relationship with the coaching staff.

“Overall, I like how they treat me like family. They’re very supportive of everything, they’re very open to talk and they’re very genuine.”

The Sooners last hosted Cherry within the last couple weeks. He is very interested in taking an official visit to Norman if he can get it set up with offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh

Arkansas is another serious contender for Cherry

Arkansas is also making a strong push for the Oklahoma native. Cherry, who has been to the Razorbacks’ campus once, is in “frequent contact” with head coach Sam Pittman and offensive line coach Eric Mateos

“I genuinely like how enthusiastic coach Mateos is,” Cherry said. “He’s very, very enthusiastic with everything he does. When I went up there for a Junior Day and a basketball game, he was the biggest fan I’ve ever seen. He supports his guys. He even shows me videos of him supporting his guys.

“I like the way that he and coach Pittman run the o-line. I have some videos of coach Pittman working with the tackles and I like what I’ve seen.”
