2025 IMG IOL Kaden Strayhorn talks early Miami interest and relationship with Francis Mauigoa: “Miami would be a good school for me”

After earning an offer from Miami after a fall game day visit last season, four-star Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive lineman Kaden Strayhorn has seen his recruit stock continue to rise, and with Aug. 1 being the first day that college coaches can contact 2025 prospects, the Hurricanes made sure to let Strayhorn know how much he is wanted in Coral Gables.

“They were the second school to text me on August 1st,” Strayhorn told CaneSport. “They want me to feel how much I’m wanted there, and I really appreciated it.”

When asked about his thoughts on the Hurricanes, Strayhorn, who is the No. 314 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, mentioned the growing pipeline between IMG and Miami and the potential opportunity to play with a handful of his former teammates.

“I think of my teammates that went there, like Francis (Mauigoa) and Antonio (Tripp),” Strayhorn said. “I know Samson (Okunlola) as well, so I think about how when I get there, they’ll be juniors going into the draft next year, so it would be cool to be with them for a year.”

Mauigoa, who was a former five-star prospect in the 2023 class, also let Strayhorn know that while getting to college is the next goal, the hard work doesn’t stop once you get there.

“Francis has told me that it’s just a grind,” Strayhorn said. “Once you get to college, you have to remember your why and that you don’t really get free time anymore, and it’s your job. IMG is like that too, but he told me it’s the next step and how Miami would be a good school for me.”

Along with the chance to reunite with Mauigoa and others, the 6-foot-3, 290-pounders mentioned how the opportunity to play under Hurricanes offensive line coach Alex Mirabal has piqued his interest in the program as well.

“I would definitely say coach Mirabal,” Strayhorn said. “The way he can develop players, especially at the inside positions. When I go to college and the NFL, I’ll probably be a center, so I like that, and they also have the No. 1 center (Matt Lee) going into college right now.”

CaneSport’s take

Strayhorn last visited Miami for a junior day event and hopes to get out to a game this season, which should aid the Hurricane’s chances with the four-star offensive lineman moving forward. “It was a really good time, and I went with a few of my other teammates,” Strayhorn said. “I got to watch Francis practice for his first college practice, so it was a really good experience.”
