2025 Cincinnati LB Paul Nelson Set to Visit Kentucky for Spring Game

2025 Cincinnati LB Paul Nelson Set to Visit Kentucky for Spring Game

Fresh off a top-eight list, class of 2025 linebacker Paul Nelson is set to make his first trip to Kentucky. He’s ready to get his first up-close look at Big Blue Nation for the 2024 spring game.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker listed Kentucky, Michigan, West Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, Cincinnati, Toledo, and Pittsburgh on his top eight list. He told KSR+ that these schools “showed me the most love.”

“The support system there and the time they value with me puts them high on my board,” Nelson said. “Their record, school jerseys, and academic support. Those were the eight schools I picked.”

Nelson is hearing from Kentucky’s associate head coach that he can be a “plug-and-play player.” He said he’s willing to play all three linebacker positions at the college level. Nelson has been told he’s high on UK’s board.

“I love Coach [Vince] Marrow and the way he coaches,” Nelson said. “He texts me every day.”

Nelson hasn’t set up an official visit to Kentucky yet. That could come as soon as this weekend as he takes his spring visit.

“It’s really going to come soon and we’re going to get it set up,” he said.

His Wider Recruitment

Paul Nelson is enjoying the recruiting process. After releasing a top eight, things are starting to heat up.

The 2025 linebacker has already visited Cincinnati, Illinois, West Virginia, and Toledo. Kentucky is his only upcoming visit set in stone.

“A lot of schools hit me up, but I don’t have anything but Kentucky set up right now,” he said. “That’s the only one.”

Nelson also provided an update on a commitment timetable. He said he is targeting sometime before the start of his senior season this fall.

“The main factors involved will be the coaching staff, the culture, the family, and the time and development they show in their program,” he said.

Paul Nelson’s Game

2025 linebacker Paul Nelson of Cincinnati (Oh.) Princeton is not ranked by the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s listed as a three-star prospect by both Rivals and 247Sports.

“[I’ve improved most] at being able to read the keys of the offensive linemen and being able to play fast,” Nelson said. “The twitchiness I have in my game allows me to get to the ball quicker.”

Moving forward, Nelson is looking to improve block destruction and coverage. As mentioned above, he’s willing to play any of the linebacker positions.

“I feel like I could play anywhere in college,” he said. “The ones that pop out most to me are Indiana, Cincinnati, and Illinois. Those are the top three that pop out the most where I feel like I could fit in their defensive scheme.”

I asked Nelson what he wanted to let Kentucky fans know about him. His answer was unique.

“I love skittles,” he said.
