2025 ATH Kaleb Lanier Reacts to Kentucky Offer: ‘They Come Out Ready to Play’

2025 ATH Kaleb Lanier Reacts to Kentucky Offer: ‘They Come Out Ready to Play’

Kaleb Lanier, a class of 2025 athlete out of Georgia, became the latest prospect to receive an offer from Kentucky Football earlier this week at a Football University camp in Florida.

The 6-foot, 160-pound wide receiver and cornerback from Decatur (GA) told KSR+ that his father learned of the offer from Kentucky’s defensive backs coach Chris Collins.

“I wasn’t involved in the conversation, but when my dad let me know it was a great feeling,” Lanier said. “I was very excited to receive the offer. Coming from an FBU camp, I had a pretty good weekend and that was a great ending to a weekend like that.”

Despite not being involved in the conversation, Lanier has a good idea of what he likes about Kentucky’s football program.

“They play SEC football,” Lanier said. “They’re in bowl games consistently, they come out ready to play every year it seems like. I saw they’ve been beating Florida, which was a tough thing for them to do in the past, so they’re definitely improving.”

Playing on both ends of the field, Lanier believes he would be a good fit in the Kentucky system.

“I’m hard-working,” he said. “I feel like I would be a good teammate and I can bring a leadership role and continue to want to win in the program.”

With an offer in hand, Lanier said he wants to take a visit in the near future.

“I would be looking for a good education, as well as having the opportunity to play and a good brotherhood,” he said. “I want a place I feel safe to call home and have a good connection with my teammates.”

His Wider Recruitment

Kaleb Lanier is just getting started with the recruiting process but already has several colleges on his trail, including Kentucky, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, UAB, Temple, and Appalachian State.

“It’s honestly a blessing getting these offers,” Lanier said. “It’s showing that hard work pays off and I’m blessed to have this opportunity right now.”

Although he hasn’t taken any visits yet, Lanier said he hopes to take some soon. However, he hasn’t chosen any school in particular to visit.

Still a couple of years away from college, Lanier is looking for a number of different things in a program.

“The education, the environment, and the people surrounding me,” he said. “I just want to feel comfortable and safe. I just want to find a good fit.”

Kaleb Lanier’s Game

Kaleb Lanier of Decatur (GA) finished the 2022-23 season with 33 total tackles, including 24 solo tackles, as well as one interception in 10 games, according to Maxpreps. He considers his ball skills as the greatest strength in his game.

“I can play any coverage and I’m willing to come down and tackle,” he said. “I’m working on improving my speed, my strength, and my man coverage skills.”

When it comes to finding a program, Lanier isn’t concerned with his fit.

“It doesn’t matter,” he said. “[I can fit in] any system.”

And what does Lanier want the Kentucky audience to know about him?

“I’m a hard worker,” he said. “If I come into the program, I’ll be ready to work day one and I want to win. I want to get better.”
