2025 4-star Tae Harris locked in on Georgia: ‘I want to be a Dawg’

Cedartown (Ga.) 2025 four-star cornerback Tae Harris has always been a Bulldog. It took 18 days to make that official when the door opened for him to become a college Bulldog.
Harris picked up an offer from Georgia back on June 1. By June 18, Harris, the No. 266 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings was committed to the Bulldogs.
Georiga’s culture and identity as a program blew Harris away when he stepped on campus. He didn’t see a need to drag his recruitment into the season.
Harris plays for Cedartown, a program eyeing a state championship after falling in the finals last season after a goal-line stand by Benedictine.
The four-star defensive back is at peace with his decision.
“When I took the visit to Georgia me and my family, I just felt it there,” Harris said. “Georgia is just different. The way they work and the way they do things the right way. I wanted to be a winner and I wanted to be a winner fast. Going into the season I’ve got a lot to focus on like trying to win the state championship. Georgia was the right fit for me. Their defensive back background was pretty good, so I wanted to be a part of it.”
Tae Harris earns Georgia’s attention but hometown connection has always made Georgia home
Harris camped at Georgia and earned an offer from Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown following the workout.
Going into the camp Harris was still a relatively unknown prospect. He held offers from Arkansas State, Georgia Southern and Troy.
When he told family and friends about the offer and his decision the community jumped at the chance to send another one of their own to Athens.
Cedartown has seen two number 27s make their way to Athens in the last decade. The first, Nick Chubb, has since gone on to NFL stardom with the Cleveland Browns.
CJ Washington suffered an injury that ended his career after he signed in the class of 2022. Harris is family with both and also wears the number 27 for Cedartown. He grew up on Washington’s street.
Harris was well aware of the community’s feel for the Georgia Bulldogs when the offer came.
“Of course, there was a lot of ‘go Dawgs’ being from Cedartown and having the background,” Harris said with a grin. “It was dope. My mom was just like ‘if this is what you want to do, do it’. I’ve always wanted to be a dawg. Coach Brown, coach (Will) Muschamp and coach (Kirby) Smart showed me a lot of love. That’s where I wanted to go.”
Georgia has Harris pegged as a potential ‘Star’ at the next level. He plays corner as well as safety in Cedartown’s defense.
No going back
Harris has picked up an offer from Miami since he committed. Other programs began reaching out on Aug. 1.
Has there been any looking back since commitment day?
“No sir, I want to be a Dawg,” Harris said.
