2025 4-star RB Byron Louis knows what he is looking for in a school
Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage running back Byron Louis has cemented himself as one of the best at his position in the 2025 class. The 6-foot, 208-pound junior has accumulated over 30 offers and after taking a look at his options, Louis trimmed his list to 10 schools last month.
Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, USC and Wisconsin made the cut.
He is in communication with each school weekly. Louis likes how they make him feel like a priority and he sees a lot of similarities in the programs on his list.
“What stands out about those schools is how they win,” Louis told On3. “Throughout my high school career, I have been on a winning team. I know the goals at the schools on my list is to win and that is important to me. That is a main focus for me and these schools is that they would put me in a position to win and in the best running back I can be. All produce running backs and all can help me get to the next level.”
The No. 208 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings plans to continue to take unofficial visits this season. As the calendar rolls over to 2024, Louis will take official visits next year before making a decision before his senior year.
This is step one for Louis
Louis has visited Miami the most. The local program has had the talented running back on campus around half a dozen times already and he will be back this weekend. He has visited Florida State, Georgia and Ohio State twice. USC has had Louis on campus once. Alabama, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee and Wisconsin are all schools Louis is working to visit as soon as possible.
The No. 18 running back in the country plans to be back in Columbus for the Penn State game on Oct. 21. The only other visit on his calendar is to Wisconsin for the Nebraska game on Nov. 18.
It is recruiting, so no school is ever completely eliminated from a race, but the 10 schools on his list are now the ones Louis will turn his focus toward.
“This is a big stepping stone for me,” Louis said when asked about this cut. “These are the schools I am now focused on. They have shown the most interest, I like what these schools have shown me and I will go where my heart desires.”
