Lawrence (Mass.) Central Catholic four-star quarterback Blake Hebert took an unofficial visit to Clemson on June 1. He left Death Valley with an offer from the Tigers.
Going into the trip, Hebert was confident in himself to perform well enough to earn an offer from head coach Dabo Swinney and his staff. However, he was not expecting it.
“The whole day, the whole visit was great,” Hebert told On3. “So, to get that offer, it definitely meant a lot.”
According to Hebert, having an offer from Clemson “definitely raises the interest, for sure.” While on campus, he got to spend time with multiple staffers, including Swinney and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Garrett Riley.
The 6-foot-2.5, 213-pound recruit likes how family-oriented the Tigers’ culture is and how much the coaches care for their players. Riley’s success is another thing that caught his attention.
“His past obviously speaks for itself, bringing that great TCU team to a national championship,” said Hebert, the No. 65 overall prospect and No. 6 quarterback in the 2025 On300. “As a person, he’s really personable and really fun to talk to and a guy that I could see myself around.”
Hebert currently holds offers from talented schools across the country, including Clemson, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ole Miss and Penn State. The Tigers are one program that he will likely consider as his recruitment continues.
“I’m definitely interested, 100% interested,” Hebert said. “I think that they stack up well against these other schools. I can’t say I have a favorite yet, but they’re a school that I’m going to keep in the back of my head and keep an eye on, for sure.”
Hebert is heading into a ‘big summer’
Hebert believes this summer will be “big” for his recruitment. At the moment, the four-star is not opposed to committing early, but will announce his decision when he feels like the time is right.
North Carolina will host the No. 1 player in Massachusetts on June 16 and he plans to be at Ole Miss in July. Additionally, Hebert is hoping to get to Nebraska and Notre Dame this summer.
“The offensive scheme is really important to me and seeing if I would fit there,” Hebert said of what he is looking for in a school. “Also, the school in general is important because 350 of those days, you’re not playing a game, so you really have to look at the school and how you fit in, not just with the football program, but with the school. Also, I’m looking at the coaching staff and how well I get along with them. Obviously, I know coaching staffs are not permanent everywhere, but I think it’s important to get along with them.”
“The biggest thing for me is the feel, the overall feel of the program, the school, the people that I’m going to be surrounding myself with,” he added. “That feels really important. It’s important to take my family’s opinions into consideration too. Obviously, they’re not going to be the ones going there, but I think it’s important for my family to like the school as much as I do.”
