2025 4-star Christian Garrett on Georgia opener: ‘Insane at night’
Bogart (Ga.) Prince Avenue Christian 2025 four-star defensive lineman Christian Garrett has been to day games in Athens before.
The No. 175 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 rankings already has an offer from the Bulldogs. He plays his high school football about 15 minutes from Sanford Stadium.
He experienced a rare event on Saturday as he joined the Georgia targets for the Bulldogs’ season opener: A night game.
It was a different experience for Garrett.
“The atmosphere at home is always crazy but today, at night it was insane,” Garrett said.
On the field, Georgia made a pretty convincing impression on the local four-star. Garrett took note of the effort and intensity on Dooley Field on Saturday.
“The intensity of which the players played and the atmosphere were both amazing,” Garrett said. “It’s hard for those things not to stand out.”
Georgia an early contender for Christian Garrett
On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Georgia as an early favorite to land Garrett. The Bulldogs have a 57.4 percent chance of landing the hometown four-star according to RPM.
Garrett isn’t ready to name favorites. He says there isn’t ‘any specific order’ at the moment in his recruitment. Garrett has added nearly 30 offers since the end of last football season.
Georgia has been a regular stop. He has visited Georgia four times already. On Saturday, he logged another strong impression with Georgia’s coaching staff.
Garrett had the chance to talk with defensive line coach Tray Scott and Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. Garrett feels every time he interacts with that duo, he learns something.
“I talked with coach Smart and coach Scott, and those interactions went pretty good as always,” Garrett said. “They are such good people and I learn something new every time I’m around them.”
Watching the Bulldogs play was enough for Garrett to make a prediction on this season. The Bulldogs earned a 48-7 win against UT Martin. Garrett feels things could look familiar this fall in Athens.
“I feel like they have the potential to do what they’ve done the past two years, the national championship but with that comes a lot of hard work,” Garrett said.
Prince Avenue connection
Garrett got to see another big moment for his high school program on Saturday night. Former Prince Avenue star, Brock Vandagriff stepped in at quarterback in the second half and threw his first career touchdown.
Vandagriff’s father, Greg Vandagriff, is Garrett’s high school coach.
Garrett stood up and cheered for a moment and celebrated the moment for his fellow Prince Avenue Wolverine.
“It was amazing I felt really happy for him and just cheering him, rooting for the hometown hero to shine,” Garrett said.
