2024 Top-10 Prospect Boogie Fland Talks Kentucky After Cutting List

Boogie Fland, the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings, is down to eight schools with visits on the horizon.
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound point guard from Archbishop Stepinac (Harlem, NY) and the PSA Cardinals AAU Program, is now considering Kentucky, Alabama, UNC, UConn, Maryland, St. John’s, Michigan, and Indiana.
Fland told KSR+ that the decision to cut it down was due to these eight being the main schools to remain in contact.
“There were only a couple other schools that were really reaching out,” he said.
As for Kentucky, Fland said the UK staff has been very active in his recruitment this summer, especially head coach John Calipari.
“Coach Cal has been saying he really wants me at the school,” Fland said. “All the coaches were coming to my games. They’re a winning program. I saw them play that little exhibition tournament they had in Toronto. Just the play style.”
Next up for Fland is a trip to Kentucky for an official visit in September. What will he be looking for on that trip?
“Just how I fit within the system,” Fland said.”Also, my comfort with the school. If it’s a family there. You want to go somewhere that you’re comfortable.”
Based on what he knows about Kentucky, he believes that they could help him reach the league.
“I feel like they would develop me into an NBA player,” Fland said. “They’re known for producing a lot of pros, a lot of people that make it to the NBA and do well.”
Nearing a Decision?
Despite cutting his list, Boogie Fland is still unsure of when he will make a decision.
“I’m not sure. I’ve got time,” he said. “I’ve still got a couple of visits to take. I’m not rushing the process or anything like that.”
In addition to Kentucky, Fland is also set to take official visits to Alabama, UConn, and Maryland in September. He has already taken official visits to North Carolina, Michigan, and UNC.
“There’s still no timetable on it,” he said regarding a decision. “The top eight wasn’t a timetable thing.”
As for what he’s looking for in a program, Fland wants a school that “does their job.”
“The school that consistently does their job, consistently looks out and shows it,” he said. “It’s going to be about the fit too. You don’t want to go somewhere you don’t fit. You want to go somewhere you fit where you’re going to play and learn from other good players.”

“I don’t rely on one thing,” he said. “I get the job done and I can affect the game in different ways. I’m a leader and I score the ball well.”
Now, as he enters his senior year, Fland is focused on getting in shape for college.
“Mainly [working] on my body, getting stronger, and getting ready for that college level,” he said.
