2024 Tennessee OLB Elijah Groves set for June OV to Purdue
Elijah Groves has forged a strong relationship with Purdue outside linebackers coach Joe Dineen. Now, Groves wants to check out campus.
He’ll get a chance to do so when he visits West Lafayette on June 2-4.
“Me and Coach Dineen talk almost every day,” said Groves, who also will visit Kentucky June 8. “I appreciate that.”
The 6-4, 211-pound Groves is a rangy athlete with potential to grow, having a body capable of filling out. How big is his frame? Groves has a 6-9 wingspan. He also plays wideout for East Robertson High in Cross Plains, Tenn., which is near Nashville.
“I’m good at coming down hill and laying a hit,” he said. “Filling the alley.”
As a junior in 2022, Groves caught nine passes for 219 yards and four touchdowns, while also making 41 tackles, four TFLs and two interceptions. He even ran back a kickoff 85 yards for a TD against Benton (Tenn.) Polk County High.
Groves has offers from the likes of Virginia Tech, N.C. State, Charlotte, UAB, Memphis and Ball State, among others.
Groves, who was part of his high school’s 4 X 100 team that qualified for the 2023 state track meet, wants to commit before the start of his senior season.
“I look forward to coming to Purdue next month,” he said.
