2024 SEC Baseball Tournament: Results, schedule, updated bracket
We are set for another jampacked day of baseball in Hoover, with the SEC Baseball Tournament heading into Day 2. Tuesday was a single-elimination round, sending four teams home early. Nobody can be eliminated on Wednesday, with the double-elimination portion of the bracket beginning.
LSU and Kentucky got things started with the early morning game, the second in a row for the Tigers. Head coach Jay Johnson has called his team one of the best in the country at the moment, proving so again. Home runs, including grand slams from Jared Jones and Tommy White, saw LSU cruise to a comfortable run-rule win after eight innings.

South Carolina and Arkansas followed in the second game of day, coming down to the finish. The game was tied at four entering the final inning before Cole Messina launched a two-run homer to deep centerfield to give the Gamecocks a 6-4 lead. The Razorbacks fought back to make it 6-5 in the bottom of the inning and put another runner in scoring position, but the Gamecocks defense secured the final out on a fly ball.
The third game of the day saw the No. 1 seed fall – and the NCAA Tournament picture shake up in the process. Vanderbilt cruised to a 13-4 victory over Tennessee thanks in large part to a five-run second inning and five RBI from Alan Espinal. That means the Vols fall into the loser’s bracket while the Commodores advance to take on the winner of Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State on Thursday night.
