2024 Safety Cam Dooley Previews Kentucky Official Visits, Talks Commitment Timetable
Cam Dooley is ready to take official visits and has a timetable in mind for a commitment.
The 6-foot-4, 195-pound safety from Valley High School (Valley, AL) told KSR+ that he will be taking his first official visit to Kentucky from June 9-11 as a commitment timetable begins to form.
“I was just going to sign in December, but I’m going to commit around the first football game of the season,” Dooley said.
As for his visit to Kentucky, Dooley will be taking into account his relationships with players and coaches.
“I just want to talk to the coaches and get more details about the staff and the environment,” he said. “I want to talk to the players so I can have a feel for them too.”
Overall, Dooley has been very impressed with the Kentucky program, stemming back to his unofficial visit to UK in late-March.
“I love the program,” he said. “I love how they treat me and I love how they treat me as a player. I’m not even there yet or committed, but they treat me like I’m family already.”
When it comes to his fit, Dooley believes he would be a good addition at safety for the Wildcats.
“I watched their practice and I feel like I would be a big help to their program,” he said. “They have some great safeties now and I feel like I could contribute to be a great safety in their program too.”
Throughout his recruitment, Dooley has spent a lot of time talking to Kentucky safeties coach Frank Buffano and offensive line coach Zach Yenser.
“They’re telling me and my parents good things about their program,” he said. “I like what Coach [Mark] Stoops told me. He talked to me and my family and said that he really liked me and my family.”
Other Visits Planned
Cam Dooley’s only other official visit planned thus far is to Vanderbilt from June 16-18.
Dooley, who released a Top 10 list earlier this month, is also considering Middle Tennessee State, Liberty, Jacksonville State, Appalachian State, Tulane, Georgia State, UAB, and Missouri.
“I really wanted to get a Top 10 made with all of my offers on it to see what I have left, so that when I commit I thank all the coaches that were there for me before I had anything,” Dooley said.
As for future official visits, Dooley said he’s also looking to take officials to Tulane, Middle Tennessee State, and Liberty.
“I want to see how they run things, how the coaching staff treats their players, how they treat my family, and how they treat other players’ families,” Dooley said. “I want to get a feel for them too.”
Cam Dooley’s Game
According to On3, Cam Dooley has a NIL valuation of $14.2k, which ranks No. 2335 in high school football.
Dooley describes himself as “long and lanky” on the field.
“I would say I’m the type of safety that can cover the field and get from point A to point B very fast,” he said. “I feel like if they throw it over the top, I can get there. If they run it outside or run it up the middle, I can make the tackle.”
Moving forward Dooley has put all his focus on becoming a productive player at the safety position.
“I get more safety work in practice than other positions,” he said. “I’m working on more of my man defense now. I need to improve my hips and making tackles.”
