2024 LB Tristan Jernigan remains high on Georgia after visit

There’s a connection forming between Georgia and Tupelo (Miss.) 2024 linebacker Tristan Jernigan. Georgia has dipped into Mississippi for linebackers in the past.

Doak Walker Award winner Nakobe Dean was a significant pull from the state of Mississippi in the class of 2019.

Jernigan was a bit of an unknown coming into the off-season. His recruitment has exploded as of late. Offers from Texas A&M and Georgia have created a buzz around Jernigan’s recruitment.

He recently named a top three. Since Georiga has begun to trend toward landing the three-star linebacker. The Bulldogs have a lead to land Jernigan according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine. Georgia has a 91.4% chance of landing Jernigan according to RPM.

Jernigan was on campus for the first time on April 8. Jernigan had multiple takeaways from his first visit to Athens. He was able to watch the Bulldogs practice and he also got a tour of the Bulldogs’ facilities.

“What stood out to me the most was the practice and the facilities,” Jernigan said.

As a linebacker, Jernigan loves Georgia’s culture. Georgia’s head coach Kirby Smart is a former defensive player. He was also a star defensive coordinator before taking the helm in Athens.

Jernigan can feel the emphasis on the defensive side of the football in Athens.

The culture was great,” Jernigan said. “I love defense that defense is a big part of my recruiting. I also love to win.”

Georgia’s message to Jernigan has been clear for the last few weeks since they offered on March 2.

“They’ve been telling me they want to coach me there,” Jernigan said.

Georgia in top three

Jernigan quickly included Georgia in his top three. The thought process immediately complimented Georgia’s decision-makers.

“It was because of the coaching staff and of the program,” Jernigan said of including the Bulldogs in his top three.

Jernigan is planning to take an official visit to Georiga at some point. He hasn’t set a date as of now but returning to Athens is definitely part of the three-star linebacker’s plans.
