2023 Texas RB Christian Womack commits to Purdue
Purdue has added a very late addition to its 2023 class with a commitment from Tomball (Texas) High running back Christian Womack on Sunday.
Womack is a late add to the 2023 Purdue class, which inked back in December and February. Womack was committed to play at a community college in Texas: Blinn College. But, he de-committed on Wednesday, setting the stage for his commitment to the Boilermakers.
Womack is the only running back in the class after two previous commits walked away: Terrell Washington, who landed at Iowa, and Keyjuan Brown, who inked with Louisville.
The Tomball (Texas) High product talked to Purdue running backs coach Lamar Conard on Monday night. Then, on Tuesday, Purdue extended an offer to Womack. He then made an official visit to West Lafayette on Sunday, making a commitment during the trip.
Womack was a star at Tomball High near Houston. The 6-0, 170-pound Womack ran for 2,111 yards as a senior after rushing for 1,369 as a junior. He finished high school with 3,494 yards rushing and 47 TDs.
Purdue is looking to augment a backfield that is led by Devin Mockobee, who is backed up by Tyrone Tracy and Dylan Downing. The program saw two running backs enter the portal after 2022: King Doerue and Kobe Lewis.
