10 QUESTIONS: Noah Mikhail, Dorian Brew, Andrew Marsh, Top USC OL Targets, Starting Lineup for Fall + Coach Henny’s Expectations
On Tuesday night (6/11), our WeAreSC Subscribers submitted questions for THE LATEST edition of the USC Trojans Football AND Recruiting Q&A.
This is a feature we did weekly throughout the USC football season and will continue up until the February 2025 signing period.
All questions were submitted on our “WeAreSC Members Only” Forum.
WEARESC SUBSCRIBER QUESTIONS
Offensive line priority players, who has shown USC interest?
USC has a commitment from center Willi Wascher, they’re in a very strong spot with Aaron Dunn and Nick Brooks too. After that the only O-Line targets scheduled to visit at this point are four-star offensive tackles Jackson Lloyd from Carmel (CA) and Malachi Goodman from Paramus (NJ).
Hopefully I’ll have more to add with offensive line recruiting in a day or two.
How big is the 2025 class going to be? and how many defensive linemen are we taking?
I’m told it’s going to be a full class and it’ll include a very large group of defensive linemen.
Which top prospects on our board are expected to announce their commitments soon and which are waiting till the early signing period?
I’m not aware of any planned announcements at this time, but there should be plenty of commitment announcments in the next four to five weeks.
There’s no point in me answering the second question because that’s continually changing. Take Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng for example. Prior to the USC visit he was planning to wait until December, now it appears he’ll announce this Summer. Won’t be surprised if that changes again.
Who besides Anthony Lucas do you expect to slide inside for depth on our defensive line in the 2025 season?
We won’t know those plans until a bit farther down the road. Not expecting any major changes from Spring other than some guys are no longer on the roster, but we’ll certainly cover this topic extensively in August. Still feels like they need to add another transfer from somewhere.
I’m very happy to see all the DL commitments. We may have at least 6 by the end of the week and we are still interested in others. Do you think the staff is getting verbals from the exact number of DL they want OR are they “over-booking” so they are covered if they get 1-2 de-commitments between now and December?
I absolutely believe they may “overbook” with defensive line commits, then figure it out later. Coach Henny’s planning on signing an epic D-Line class and won’t be satisfied with anything less.
How do you think the OL class is shaping up, scale of 1-10? 1 being Henny’s recruiting impact and 10 being Alex Grinch’s?
If USC can gain commitments from Aaron Dunn and Nick Brooks, I’d give them a 7.5 out of 10 on m y scale. Still need a few more per my conversations yesterday.
Do you think USC is the team to beat for wrs Andrew Marsh and Corey Simms?
That’s my belief as of now with Andrew Marsh anyway.
With the NCAA settlement paving the way to allow schools to pay student-athletes, is this a topic recruits are bringing up? Are schools pitching this to prospects?
It’s still a relatively fresh topic and I believe NIL is still the main focus when talking $$$, but I expect to ask about this topic at some point.
Hey Scott, you have mentioned before that the USC NIL budget is “enough to compete with the top programs” with regard to the 2025 class, but how much is that roughly? Do you have an estimate on the exact $ amount? Would be interesting to hear what kind of budget it takes to field a CFB team in 2024.
I’m not sure HOV wants me revealing what their budget is, but USC has the ability to compete with the top programs with NIL now. That doesn’t mean they’ll break the bank for every kid, which means they’ll lose some guys because of NIL….just like nearly every program will.
USC will likely spend the most on defensive linemen.
Do you expect the announcements of the three emojis (2 remaining) before the next big recruiting weekend? If not, will we all freak out trying to keep track of things when you hopefully tell us we will be getting 3+ more?
Like I’ve said, we have no announcement timelines. When we know, I promise you’ll know.
Scott did Noah Mikhail family come on to visit with him? Does every recruit have a NIL meeting with the staff now on trips?
Noah Mikhail’s family was with him last week on his USC official visit and every recruit is educated on NIL and what it can offer.
What are your starting lineups going into Fall?
OFFENSE: Miller Moss, Woody Marks, Elijah Paige, Emmanuel Pregnon, Jonah Monheim, Alani Noa, Mason Murphy, Ja’Kobi Lane, Zachariah Branch, Makai Lemon and Lake McRee (if healthy). Far from set though.
DEFENSE: John Humphrey, DeCarlos Nicholson, Jaylin Smith, Kamari Ramsey, Akili Arnold, Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, Mason Cobb, Bear Alexander, Jamil Muhammad, Anthony Lucas and after that I have no idea. Can Gavin Meyer get a spot? Too many unknowns for me.
Where do things stand with Dorian brew after his latest visit?
I’m told the feeling is USC is very close with Dorian Brew, but he still has a few more visits. He was one of the guys USC felt really good about after last weekend. It was him Andrew Marsh and Daylan McCutcheon.
Which high level Offensive Tackle prospects, that could play or even start in year 2/3 do you feel USC has a good chance at?
The four they’ve either had visit already or plan to visit are Aaron Dunn, Nick Brooks, Jackson Lloyd and Malachi Goodman. All for could start two to three years down the road.
Can USC beat the zeroes for Noah Mikhail?
Oregon will likely offer Noah Mikhail an insane NIL package and I’m told USC likely won’t. We likely won’t know where Noah is really going until December anyway imho.
Is USC recruiting Brandon Arrington and at what position?
USC and D’Anton Lynn are recruiting him as a defensive back.
